Department of English
- Vision
To help students see themselves as professionals, as part of a discipline with language skills and abilities valuable in the business, teaching, publishing, or post-graduate work.
To assure that students encounter creativity crucial to English studies through theater productions, readings by professional writers, and their own creative and critical production and presentation.
To balance the needs of general education – communication, diversity, global perspectives, interdisciplinary studies – with those of the major.
The mainstay of the vision of the Department of English is to offer students adequate communication skills to prepare them for their professional needs in the globalized scenario prevalent today.
The English Department strengthens the liberal education of students by developing a deepened understanding of language and literacy, the value of critical reading and effective writing, and the richness of literature, past and present.
To create and maintain an environment for both students and faculty to explore understanding of English language and literature.
The Department has taken upon itself the mission of working zestfully and resourcefully to impart the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing to students.
To provide conceptual learning in English language and literature.
To provide employment opportunities for students and faculty through collaborative research.
Aims and Objectives:
To publish Seminar/ Conference proceedings and monographs.
To launch a lecture series of the distinguished English Professors.
To organize Training Courses/Workshops for life skills, gender equality, Entrepreneurship Development, Career Opportunities in Defense Services and Competitive Exams for UG and PG students.A Research Magazine for Department’s UG and research scholars.
A well-equipped and advanced English Language Lab.
